Ƭapp leaders and campuses were honored for their efforts to get students into college and expand educational opportunities at the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s State of Education and Talent 2021 reception on October 28 at the J.W. Marriott Austin.
Why it matters: This reception recognizes districts and campuses for getting students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and apply for colleges. It also recognizes local leaders in education.
Ƭapp Board President Geronimo Rodriguez received the Celebrating Our Community Leadership award at the reception as well.
- The chamber cited Rodriguez’s “efforts to improve collaboration between healthcare and academia and for inspiring the next generation of Austin's workforce” for the recognition.
- “I think we are called to make sure we fill the needs in our community, and you see it through the work that we do by connecting our local community to high-demand careers so people can continue to afford to live here,” Rodriguez said while accepting the award.
